New Show at Rebus Works Cafe and Grocery: "Symbols of Home–Raleigh, NC"

Happy New Year!!! After being off my legs for the last few weeks of December, I eased into the New Year by making mugs for my upcoming show “Symbols of Home–Raleigh NC” at Rebus Works Cafe and Grocery. It was a great way to warm up the studio and my skills; I plan to decorate them with a decal of Sir Walter Raleigh's face from this month's Walter Magazine cover.

My original tile portrait of Sir Walter and January’s Walter cover. The photo link will take you to the on line magazine, my article is on page 80.

There'll be new tiles on the walls, mugs, and small vases on shelving at the front and back of the store. While the show is on display, each featured artist is assigned a coffee blend, and the first twenty bags sold of the unique Marina mix will come with a small surprise gift made by the me. The opening is Friday, February 2nd, from 6 to 8 pm. I hope you visit and see my new Raleigh-centric work focusing on the beautiful and natural icons of our ever-evolving city.

I’ll share the fired images of these pieces once it happens. After the busy Christmas firing season there were a few failed firings where parts that simply ware out over time needed replacing. Unfortunately they failed one per firing making one firing take 3 days.

The opening is on a First Friday, so make a reservation at your favorite downtown restaurant. Rebus is an easy walk to Wye Hill Kitchen and Brewing. Make a whole night of it by enjoying our vibrant downtown and the other galleries that are open late.

I look forward to seeing you there.
