When Anticipation, Enthusiasm, and Elation are Gone, Exhaustion Sets In

I got home from my Paris vacation last Sunday. It's Wednesday now, and all I've done is unpack, do my laundry, and clean the bedroom. I've gone to the studio, it's still there, but I'm not working in it. I'm exhausted. So I decided to go slow rather than jump right back into working full time.

Over the last year, I've taken steps to redo a bedroom. I've had a new bedspread and dust ruffle made, eliminated half the artwork in the room, found and refinished an old dresser (to be picked up next week), and chose a new paint color for the bedroom. Challenging decisions made, I thought I'd ease into my creativity by finishing the project. That means painting the room, picking up the dresser, and transferring my clothes.

Here’s the new bedspread. The wall color will go from harvest gold to a cool pastel green. It saddens me that the lamp shade will probably have to go but I’m going to decide once the walls are painted.

Packing for Paris led to a clean closet. But not enough time to donate or find new homes for what I no longer want. I’ll find consignment stores for some of the artwork and clothes.

I had a great time in Paris. The highlights were lunch at the Jules Verne (the Michelin star restaurant in the Eiffel Tower) and Monet's Garden in Giverny. Both will get blog posts when I've recovered and sorted through the videos and photos.

The picture to the left is our view of the Eiffel Tower from the patio of our hotel room. Another perk of the hotel was a full-size bathtub. There's nothing like a soak after a long day of sightseeing and walking or after a few hours of writing.
