All the Awe Inspired Sentiments of Christmas can be Found in Birds

Oval bird plate by Bosetti Art Tile with a humming bird and orange flowers.

Consistency is my nemesis following my bout with Covid. Some days I'm super productive, and on others, I'm all over the place. I'm rolling with it as best I can, getting ready for ArtWalk and making progress on the tower project. One consistent thing is birds.

Birds are my theme for the season; here are last week's gifts from the kiln gods. Each of us can identify with these beautiful beasts on so many levels. Whether a lofty bird of prey or a songbird, they represent freedom, grace, love, strength, eternity, and happiness. All the emotions we associate with the holidays.

Three cuerda sea decorated oval plates with birds and flowers.

The plates are roughly 00” x 00”.

Handmade thrown and coiled bird sculptures, set in trees, on pedistals.

Some of the new bird sculptures will be going into the kiln shortly. I’m working out the glazing and how to pattern the bases. Which will be an optional purchase.

The theme continues in the tower project but not as the primary focus. Inspiration comes in waves, so sometimes you just have to wait and mull things over until it hits, then it all comes tumbling out at once. This is just two days of work, and I still have two sections to complete. I plan to finish the glazing by Friday of this week. I’m not promising.

You have a mythical dog, monarch butterflies, zinnias, bachelor buttons, poppies, and bees in these images.

Three sections of nine of the tower project/yard sculpture going to NJ.

Hydrangeas, ladybugs, more poppies, and bees. There are lots of bees in this garden. I'm intentionally promoting a healthy bee population. The third image is the start of the dragon with wings of tree branches keeping with the flora and fauna of the piece.

Now that I'm near the top of the tower, I'll add more birds, moths, and butterflies and check to ensure I have everything the customer ordered.
