The pieces are available at Rebus Works, 301-2 Kinsey Street, Raleigh, until February 25th, then on the website. Available for $900. with a walnut frame or $700. without.
Join me at the opening reception, First Friday, February 2nd, from 6 pm - 8 pm.
Walter Magazine Cover | Sold
I'm pleased to be the featured artist in this month's Walter magazine. January's cover features an artist's rendition of our city's namesake, Sir Walter Raleigh, and it tickles me pink to be this year's chosen one. This tile is not for sale.
Amber Evening
While most bees are safely back in the hive when the sun sets, nocturnal shift workers will collect nectar and pollen into near-darkness.
Falls Fertility
The wonder of a mighty oak is that it grows from a single acorn. When you want to remind a loved one of their incredible and endless potential, give them an acorn.
City of Oaks
Fall is a favorite time of year for many of us. Luckily, we live in the "City of Oaks," where the vibrant red, orange, and brown hues of oak leaves are a beautiful sign of the changing seasons.
Sunflower Peeper
Sunflowers are so obvious it's hard to think of them as secretly doing anything, let alone peeping.
Emerald Passion
This glass green glaze with its avocado halo could be the city's official color. It's the perfect hue to symbolize a Raleigh Summer.
Anna's Garden
As I was hobbling to the car for a physical therapy appointment after having my knee replaced, I looked to my left and saw my neighbor's garden ablaze in yellow and purple. The beauty lifted me spiritually and physically. I've experienced the power of beauty in the past, but this was my most recent encounter, and it lasted until I returned to the studio.
Boastful Beauties
Sunflowers loyally follow the sun's path from East to West throughout the day, making them a sign of devotion and typically gifted to couples on their third wedding anniversary. Hydrangeas, especially pink and blue varietals, are associated with heartfelt apologies. Both flowers bear thoughts of boastfulness because of their large, showy blossoms, but each is perfect to give for any reason.
Raleigh Summer
These are my companions as I walk the neighborhood, bike to the studio, or drive around town. Zinnias, coneflowers, violets, ferns, hydrangeas, and sunflowers color Raleigh's Summer.
Prolonged Prosperity
Nothing says Summer like sunflowers. They represent almost anything: adoration, loyalty, longevity, vitality, intelligence, and happiness. Available in colors from cream to red, yellow symbolizes life, intelligence, joy, and friendship. Once in full bloom, the flowers will last 20 days, and the plant will bloom for 8-12 weeks. They're the perfect gift to bring pleasure to someone's day or as a treat for yourself.
Donut Delight | Sold
Last April (2023), Walter Magazine did a mini magazine of Raleigh-centric April Fools stories. One was about squirrels breaking into a Krispy Kreme truck and eating the donuts. I instantly visualized it and then created it.
A Bird's Bounty | Sold
Once Black-Eyed Susan goes to seed, native birds such as goldfinches, chickadees, cardinals, and nuthatches will perch on this over-performing perineal and feed on its tiny seeds.
Spiritual Understanding
All relationships take effort, but occasionally, we experience a magical oneness with another, taking minimal effort and delivering maximum satisfaction. That's spiritual understanding.
Sir Walter Raleigh
This version of Sir Walter was not chosen for the cover but appears in the article and is available for sale.
