Want Christmas Ornaments that Charm and Celebrate Nature?

It's funny how ideas get stuck in our heads like Christmas trees are green. Christmas trees come in all colors, including pink, which I find hard to imagine at my house, but I've seen it done beautifully at others. I love my bee ornaments but have labored trying to make them Christmasy, as in beautiful on a green Christmas tree. I've now done them with three background colors, and I'm very interested to know your thoughts. Which do you like best, and do I continue to make the bees black and yellow or make them more Christmasy?

Three star shaped ornaments with bubble bees in black, yellow, and white, each with a different background colors of red, blue, and green.

Which background color pleases your Christmas spirit? These fired to about 2.5 inches.

Smaller ornaments are 1.5 and 1 inch.

I like the red ones best, but as red is my favorite color, I'm biased and doubting myself. The blue fired more blue-green than blue, but still not as Christmasy as I'd like. When I showed the blue to another potter, she mentioned the color would get lost in the tree. Then I thought, why not lean into that and let the bee be. So I did some in green. Please weigh in with your thoughts; otherwise, I may work through all sixty of my glaze colors.

I’m also whipping up these charming smaller ornaments in white and gold. They’ll be perfect for making garlands.

Earlier this week, there was an open house at Rex Cancer Center. It was the first time I'd seen the center complete, with all its art and light. It was rewarding to hear how the art affected patients, allowing them to catch their breath, take them out of themselves, and free them to think differently.
