Celebrate Summer and Open up to its Brightness

July is a colorful time of year. My garden reminds me morning and evening as I go between home and studio—filled with shades of pinks, plums, reds, and oranges; it's a blaze with color and texture. And I love that it's in style. The proof is at the supermarket magazine rack where color covers the covers.

Coneflowers come in all colors these days. The first year these were pastel shades of pink, orange, and purple and have become more vibrant over the years. Black-eyed susans are another version of cone flowers, and there’s always the beautifully traditional purple.

Even if you're a neutral enthusiast, you can bring summer's colors into your home with brilliantly hued paint (give some old chairs new life) or brightly patterned fabrics (some summery new pillows). Naturally, I want you to color it with clay. A stunning lamp, a platter that can be displayed and used, or a bright vase to set off the bouquet you couldn't resist at the farmer's market.

Summery green background, dark red berries and branch with glossy deep green leaves. Height with shade is 26”.

However you decide to use Summer’s colors, I'm here to help with your clay and tile needs. I'm going back to making platters while building up inventory for the Fall. You will not see me out in our heat at a summer show. I'll be working in the cool at the studio, which is open from 10 am to 3 pm for sure. If those hours don't suit you, please text for an appointment, 919-414-8950.
