Make it stand out
Ornament production is underway at the studio. While I was creating the discs, I started mulling on patterns. I wrote down five ideas, and once I got going, the ideas started flowing. It's rather miraculous the way one idea flows into another, creating inspiration and flow. It's my favorite part of the process.
While working on the mural for Rex, I'd have periods where I'd just look at the blank tiles feeling like I was wasting time, but then inspiration would come, and in a few hours, I would fill in a quadrant. I'm also making tiles to cover the metal frame that will hold the mural. I want them to have a bit of a lip to hide the metal frame. I've been thinking about how to get the framing tiles made quickly. In those magic morning hours, between sleep and awake, I saw the shape of a tool I could easily make and achieve my goal.
Bisqued ornaments waiting to be decorated.
It's wonderous fulfilling needs through intention. Whether it's decorating, designing, or producing, holding a thought and mulling on it is one of the best ways I problem-solve.
A few prototypes, before the firing.
The first prototypes out of the kiln. Once I have a few more I’ll start putting them on the website. If you’d like to see the ones I did last year, shop here.
