Student Work

February 1st, 2012 By admin

Here are some unfired box tiles from the last class at my studio.

Three samples of student work from last Saturday's class.

Below are pieces from our first class where we did flat tiles as well as tiles with small sculptures and shelves on them.

Tiles made in our first class with tiles, shelves, and small sculptures.

In the spring I plan to have a series of one day workshops. Below is the sample box tile I’m working on. It’ll be the picture that goes with the class description. I used red underglaze as my background color, yellow with a pinky purple center line for the petals, green and purple for the stem. The frame  and sides were carved with a nut pick and stamped. A manganese dioxide wash was applied then sanded off.

To the right of my tile is a box with a lid that another student turned her tile into. Great work ladies!

Box tile that I made, decorated with underglazes and flowers.
